Mary Elizabeth Geiling Grashof

September 1, 1924 — January 17, 2016

Mary Elizabeth Geiling Grashof was born September 1, 1924. She lived in Milton and was a 1942 graduate of Milton High School. Her father, Herb, who worked in the post office, was well known and liked. Mary was in the high school chorus and the Lutheran Church choir, both directed by the late Paul Confer. She was a 1946 graduate of Cornell University, where she belonged to the Delta Gamma Sorority. After graduation she did a year dietetic internship at Grasslands Hospital in Valhalla, NY. She worked as a dietician in hospitals in Suffern, NY and Wilmington, DE.

Milton was quite excited, when in 1948, Mary Geiling Settembrini gave birth to triplets, namely Mary Kathryn, Charles and Lawrence. At the time, she was living in Mount Vernon, NY and was there for 15 years. She returned to Lewisburg, where she lived for 35 years. While living in Lewisburg, she served as a health officer in Milton as well as project manager for the housing authority under HUD. She then served as the nutrition director and helped start six senior centers in Union and Snyder Counties.

She was married to the late William Murdock and during their years together she spent three years in Tripoli, Libya and three years in Saudi Arabia. She then moved to Florida and has lived there for the past 25 years.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Robert Grashof; eight children, triplets, Mary K, Chip and Larry Settembrini, Christine Nautiyal, Santa Settembrini, Suzanne Manotti, Michelle Hoffman and Adrienne Murdock Sears; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Geiling, of Emmaus. Her grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. J. R Glass, of Muncy.

Burial will be held in the Muncy Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
