Mary Louise (Knauss) Wilson

December 17, 1923 — January 30, 2024

Lewisburg

Mary Louise (Knauss) Wilson, of Lewisburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 30th, 2024, at 100 years of age, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 17th, 1923 in Swengel to the late Irwin Charles and Myra Belle (Cole) Herendeen.

Mary Louise attended Swengel Elementary school and graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1941.

In 1945, she married Franklin Knauss, a World War II Navy coxswain and deep-sea diver, who went on to become a plumber in the greater Montandon area. Together, they had three sons, before he passed away in 1968.  Twenty-three years later, she married Lawrence F. Wilson of Montandon, who entered into rest in 1992.

For over fifty years, Mary Louise was a member of Reformed Baptist Church in Lewisburg.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, assembling puzzles, and going on bus trips, but more than anything, she loved attending her grandchildren’s many sporting events.  She rarely missed a game, home or away.

Mary Louise was beloved by all who knew her for her sassy spark and endless generosity.  She was a strong and independent woman who cherished her Lord, her family, her church family, and her cats.

Surviving are her three sons and their wives, Rich and Kay Knauss of Dolores, Colorado; David and Joanne Knauss of Columbia Crossroads; and Roger and Sherry Knauss of Lewisburg.  Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, as well as three great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Louise was preceded in death by her siblings Norman, Lois, Irene, Philip, Eunice, and Paul.

She will be buried in the Old Cedar Cemetery in Swengel. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
