Maurice L. Aikey, 85, of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015, at RiverWoods, surrounded by his family.
Born in Milton on February 27, 1930, he was a son of the late William and Nellie (Erb) Aikey. On July 24, 1948, he married the former Mary Ella Farley, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2010. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Maurice was a 1947 graduate of Lewisburg High School. Throughout his life Maurice worked various jobs as a contractor and plumber, selling insurance and owning and operating a general store at Buffalo Crossroads.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda L. Aurand, of Lewisburg, Karen A. and James Adams, of Mifflinburg, and Sandra K. and Larry Crebs, of Winfield; one son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Angie Aikey, of Lewisburg; one brother, Francis Aikey, of Selinsgrove; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, George Aikey; one son-in-law, Ronald Aurand; and one grandson, Adam Crebs.
A private graveside service will be held in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
