September 14, 1930 — March 24, 2016

Merrill “Jack” Johnson Dodge, 85, of Muncy, died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born September 14, 1930 in Claremont, NH, he was a son of the late Merrill Minor and Famie Jane (Johnson) Dodge. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Flowers, celebrated 62 years of marriage before her death on May 30, 2014.

Jack was a 1948 graduate of Stevens High School, Claremont, NH, and the University of New Hampshire, where he received his bachelor’s degree in history and was a member of The Salamanders acapella group.

Jack served honorably with the U.S. Air Force in an Air Police unit in the Korean War. He started working at U.S. Envelope Company, Springfield, Massachusetts and later served as president of the former C.A. Reed Company. Jack retired from Penntech Papers Inc., NY, where he was Vice President-Sales &Marketing and served on the board of directors.

A family man first and foremost, he loved entertaining and visiting with family and friends. Jack spent his spare time working around the house and farm, fixing just about anything. He could often times be found with dirt on his hands and his head under a car hood. Jack also loved music, taking pictures and dabbling with technology.

Surviving are his brother, Dallas C. Dodge, of Bloomfield, CT; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eric Dodge, of Houston, TX and Merrill “Jim” and Lauren Dodge, of Jefferson, MA; three daughters and one son-in-law, Martha Dodge, of Bethlehem, Sara Dodge and Keith Stiger, of Muncy and Lucinda Dodge Rodgers, of Muncy; and ten grandchildren, Taylor Byrne Dodge, Ginger Reed, Jack Rodgers, Katie Dodge, Merrill Dodge, Patrick Rodgers, Sam Byrne Dodge, Gregory Dodge Converse, Matthew Dodge and Olivia Dodge.

In addition to his parents and wife, his two sisters, Lucy Orr and Nancy Dow, predeceased him.

Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John E. Lee, retired Methodist pastor, officiating.

Burial will be held privately in the Muncy Cemetery.
