Mildred I. Keister

April 18, 1917 — December 11, 2017

Mildred I. Keister, 100, formerly of MaClay Ave., Lewisburg, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.

She was born April 18, 1917 in Lewis Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Harry and Mamie E. (Dorman) Catherman. She and her husband, Ernest H. Keister Sr, celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing Nov. 19, 1992.

Mildred was a graduate of Laurelton High School, Hartley Township. She previously worked at the former JJ Newberry, Lewisburg, Chef Boy-ar-Dee, Milton and the former JPM, Lewisburg. She enjoyed raising her family and keeping house, especially cooking and canning. Mildred also loved spending her summers at their cottage on Penns Creek.

Mildred was a member of Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, where she participated in the Edna Sheary Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a son, Ernest H. Keister Jr, of Lewisburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol E. and Roger D. Beck, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Barbara Michael, Beverly (Jeff) Weber and Barry (Melissa) Beck; five great-grandchildren, Brad, Paige, Payton, Raegan and Baron; and two great-great-grandsons, Christopher and Nicholas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Thelma C. Pontius and two brothers, Kenneth and Stanley Catherman.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Mildred’s name be made to Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 S. Third St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.
