Miriam Beatrice Smith, 88, of White Deer, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her home.
She was born June 14, 1927 in Milton, a daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Woodruff) Derr. Miriam and her husband, Arthur Franklin Smith, celebrated 66 years of marriage before his death on June 11, 2015.
Miriam worked as a seamstress at the former Milton Shirt Factory. She also enjoyed taking care of her family.
Miriam was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, White Deer.
Surviving are one son, Jason Smith, of White Deer; two daughters, Valerie Scanlon, of Turbotville and Mary Moser, of Watsontown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Edward Ulmer, of Pottsgrove and Shirley and Ray Killian, of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Jason A. Smith, Eric B. Smith, Heather Scanlon and Blair Smith; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Jeff Smith; three brothers, William, James and Phillip Derr; and three sisters, Pauline Fetzer, Phyllis Pritchard and Leah Neyhart.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. with her pastor, Rev. Robert O. Rice, Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Miriam's name be made to Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 51, White Deer, PA 17887.
