Nancy G. Murren

Nancy G. Murren, 85, formerly of Berwick, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center, Montoursville.

Born December 2, 1931 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mary (McKenna) Steiger.  She and her husband, Walter H. Murren, celebrated 39 years of marriage before his death in 1991.

Nancy worked for several years at the former Consolidated Cigar Factory, Berwick and for over 20 years as the Director of Religious Education at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Berwick.

She was a current member of Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.  Nancy was very devoted to her Catholic faith and also belonged to the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fátima.

Nancy was a loving wife and mother who always put her family first.  She was very fond of her cats, Baby and Blackie.  Nancy also enjoyed reading and watching old movies.

Surviving are six children, Lynn Mowery and her husband, William, of Hetlerville, Walter Murren and his wife, Marga, of Germany, John Murren and his wife, Cindy, of Maryland, Steven Murren and his wife, Lisa, of Hughesville, Donna Albertson, of Bloomsburg, and Jeffrey Murren and his wife, Kim, of Orangeville; one sister, Sheila Buffler and her husband, Jim, of Delaware; a sister-in-law, Ruth Stratton, of New Jersey; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

Burial will be held privately in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Nancy’s name be made to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
