Norman G. “Norm” Metzger, 69, of Muncy, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born April 15, 1944 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Gernard W. Sr. and Thelma R. (Allabach) Metzger. On June 28, 1974 he married the former Linda Schively, who survives. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.
Norm was a 1963 graduate of Montoursville High School. He served honorably in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. Norm worked as a mechanic at the former John Powell Chevrolet for 33 years and was currently working as a mechanic at Fry’s Farm Machinery, Pennsdale.
He was a member of the Loyalsock Valley Antique Machinery Association and had a love of restoring old tractors on which he enjoyed taking his grandchildren for rides.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Monica Metzger, of Williamsport; one daughter, Crystal Hood, of Montoursville; one brother and sister-in-law, Gernard W. Jr. “Pete” and Sandy Metzger, of Watsontown; four grandchildren, Katherine, Patrick and Danielle Metzger and Morgan Hood; and three nephews and two nieces.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son-in-law, David Hood in October 2011.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at noon. Officiating will be the Rev. Larry L. Leland, Jr., pastor of Faith United Methodist Church, Montoursville.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
