Patricia Ruth Treasure Gardner

April 25, 1929 — November 3, 2018

Patricia Ruth Treasure Gardner, 89, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018. She went by many names - Pat, Patsy (only her husband could get away with that name), Preacher’s wife, Mom, but her favorite one was Gigi for Grandmother Gardner.

She was born April 25, 1929 in New Kensington, the daughter of the late Francis and Bertha (Hankey) Treasure.  Pat received her bachelor’s degree from Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh.  While there, she met her husband, the Rev. James E. Gardner, who survives.  Together they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Pat and Jim spent many years living around the Philadelphia area before moving to Lewisburg in 1968.  James became the Chaplin of Bucknell University and Pat worked in the dining services for a brief time. During this time, they became the family to many Bucknell students over the years.

Pat was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Lewisburg.  In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading and traveling. Most importantly, Pat loved caring for her family and entertaining guests with gourmet dinners.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth and Keith Flickinger, of Aston, and Paula Gardner, of Lewisburg; one sister-in-law, Jane  Bender, of Oregon, four grandchildren, Jennifer Monaghan, Maggie Pat Whelan, Ben Flickinger and Erik Flickinger; four nephews and two nieces.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 255 S. Derr Dr. Lewisburg with her pastor the Rev. Sarah L. Weedon, officiating.  Interment will be held in the St. Francis Memorial Garden next to the church. A meal and time of fellowship will follow.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Pat’s name be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, American Macular Degeneration Foundation
