Peggy Evelyn Hoover

December 27, 1931 — October 11, 2015

Peggy Evelyn Hoover, 83, of Allenwood, died Sunday, October 11 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born December 27, 1931, in Unityville, a daughter of the late Jesse and Naomi (Rider) George.  On November 9, 1952 she married the Rev. Richard G. Hoover, who preceded her in death in January of 2006.

Peggy was a 1950 graduate of Hughesville High School.

She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, New Columbia.

She worked for many years at the former W.T. Grants, Milton.  Peggy was also a dedicated wife to her husband and his pastoral career.  Her real joy in life was being a loving mother and devout Christian who spent a lifetime taking care of her family and friends.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing chinese checkers.  Peggy also loved to garden, especially african violets, and to share her love of flowers with everyone.

Surviving are two children, Herbert T. "Herb" Hoover and wife, Faith, and Charlotte Bryan and husband, William, all of Watsontown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Person and husband, Donald, of Montgomery, and Betty Chilson and husband, Gary, of Unityville;  five grandchildren Kyle Bryan, and wife, Katrina, Kurtis Bryan and wife, Jennie, Anne Bryan, Rachel Hoover and Nichole Hoover; and two great-grandchildren, Charles and Michael Bryan.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Harley George; three sisters, Kathleen Murray, Jeanette Buck and Inez Bressler; and one great-grandson in infancy, William Bryan.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Ryan Krauss, of Watsontown United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Watsontown Cemetery.

The family welcomes flowers, however, if desired, donations in Peggy's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
