Phillip H. Bressette

Phillip H. Bressette, 82, of Muncy, died Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He was a resident of Muncy since 1995 and previously lived in East Greenville.

Born July 28, 1932 in Wellsboro, he was a son of the late Robert Willis and Lila (Starner) Bressette. On June 29, 1957, he married the former Emily J. Sauter, who survives. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Phil was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He served honorably in the 25 th Infantry Division from 1950 until 1954, and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Phil retired from the Pillsbury Co after 30 years of service.  He previously was employed at Lycoming Division of Avco (now Textron) from 1952 to 1957, and then worked as a security officer at SCI Graterford.  Phil also worked part time as a police officer during the 1960’s in Perkiomen and Lower Frederick Townships.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Muncy, where he was involved in Keenagers, and was also a charter member of Mill Creek United Methodist Church, Montoursville, where he was active with the Primetimers. Phil was a lifetime member of Eugene Grafius Post 104 American Legion, Montoursville and the American Federation of Grain Millers.  In addition, he was a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County; the George Meck Senior Center, Muncy; Warren Lodge #310 F&AM, Collegeville; and AARP.  Phil was proud to be a Red Cross blood donor for many years.

In his spare time he could often be found reading a good book or playing games (especially Scrabble, Yahtzee and card games).  He owned a Honda 450 motorcycle and enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and camping. He also possessed an avid interest in sports, particularly football, baseball and basketball, and was extremely fond of his Labrador retriever, Nicki.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Jill S. and Dennis Shepler of Berwick; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave and Emily Bressette of Newark, Ohio and Don and Lorrie Bressette of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Richard Cox of Overland Park, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Uhler and Roberta Brown; and one brother, Paul Bressette.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
