Phyllis J. Grenoble, 94, of Jersey Shore, died on Friday, February 21, 2025 at her home with family by her side.
She was born June 6, 1930 in Lock Haven, a daughter of the late J. Nevin and Izetta Beryl (Miller) Blesh. On March 8, 1950 she married Doyle E. Grenoble who preceded her in death on August 16, 1999. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage.
Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She attended Temple University School of Nursing and earned a BA from Lock Haven State Teachers College. Phyllis later received her Master’s from Penn State University.
She initially worked as a 3rd grade teacher before transitioning to 1st grade at Porter Twp. Elementary School, Lamar, and later retired from Woolrich Elementary School after 28 years. Following retirement, she was a devoted member of the PSER and PASR.
Phyllis was a lifetime member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lock Haven.
She enjoyed painting and crafting, which provided many Christmas gifts to her family through the years. Phyllis loved attending her grandchildren’s events and going out to dinner with family and friends. She was also fond of her cat, Shadow.
Surviving are four children, Sharon E. Elder and her husband, George, of Leesburg, FL, D. Edward Grenoble and his wife, Holly, of Avis, Nathan E. Grenoble and his wife, Kathryn, of Muncy, and Christine A. Boyles and her husband, William, of Pennsdale; two brothers, John N. Blesh and his wife, Ginger, of Dunnstown, and H. Joel Blesh and his wife Kathy, of Farrandsville; 9 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Donna Paloskey; one granddaughter, Stephanie Mutchler; and one grandson, Nathan E. Grenoble II.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 28 and again from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St. Lock Haven, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Justin Frear and Pastor Michael Hill, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jersey Shore Cemetery.
The family welcomes flowers, however, if desired, contributions may be made to either Covenant United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
