Phyllis H. Hettler

December 29, 1928 — April 3, 2021

Lewisburg

Phyllis H. Hettler, 92, of Lewisburg, passed peacefully Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Heritage Springs Memory Care, Lewisburg.

She was born December 29, 1928 in Kulpmont, a daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Grove.

Phyllis was a skilled seamstress and worked at David Knit for many years before retirement.  Deeply devoted in her faith, Phyllis attended Christ Wesleyan Church in Sunbury as well as Winfield Baptist Church.  She and her late husband, Bill Rebuck, enjoyed outings with the Antique Car Club of America, participating in parades, club events and tours throughout the state.  Phyllis was an active member of the Northumberland Adult Community Center and a beloved resident of Heritage Springs Memory Care where her social activity was often posted on Facebook.

She loved her flower garden (especially her rose bushes), baking black raspberry pie with fresh berries from her garden, canning sour cherries for pies and hosting large dinners with family and friends to celebrate birthdays and holidays.  She loved wearing the color red and could never resist a good yard sale.  Phyllis left a lasting impression on those she met as a fun spirited, warm and loving presence.  Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Surviving are a daughter, Carla Brouse, of Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Heidi Suprenant (Jim), Angela Lowry (Sean), Joshua Sobol (Amber) and Andrew Brouse and five great-grandchildren, Blake, Wyatt, Sophie, Norah and Perry.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, William Rebuck and second husband, Robert Hettler and her daughter, Karen Sobol, as well as her six siblings Edward, Vanetta, Art, Lamar, Leonard and Evelyn.

A memorial service to honor Phyllis’ life will be held at a later date.

Burial will be held in Northumberland Memorial Park.

The family suggests contributions in Phyllis’ memory be made to the Northumberland Adult Community Center, 268 Second St., Northumberland, PA 17857.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
