Phyllis L. Ungard

February 18, 1925 — November 10, 2014

Phyllis L. Ungard, 89, formerly of White Deer, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

She was born February 18, 1925 in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late George R. and Isa Viola (Moyer) Zeiber. She married George E. “Ding” Ungard, who preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1984 after 17 years of marriage.

Phyllis was a graduate of Lewisburg High School.

She worked in the upholstery department at the former Pennsylvania House Furniture Co., Lewisburg for 36 years.

Phyllis was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, White Deer. She was also a member of the Milton VFW Post 1665, the Loyal Order of Moose #171, Milton, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Milton, 1208 and the Union County Sportsman’s Club.

Phyllis had a real zest for life and enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She was an avid Penn State football fan and loved doing crossword puzzles.

Surviving are a son, Robert Gross, of Anaheim, Calif.; a daughter, Cecelia M. Smith, of Seneca Falls, New York: a granddaughter, Bobbi Day, of Selinsgrove and two grandsons, Clayton Gross and Barrett Johnson, both of Calif.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, George “Buck” Zeiber.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Robert O. Rice, Jr., officiating.

Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family welcomes flowers, however, if desire memorial contributions may be made to Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 2125 White Deer Pike, White Deer, PA 17887.
