Rachel Ann Derr

Rachel Ann Derr, 86, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

Born September 24, 1937 in White Deer Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. Sr. and Florence Ann (Musser) Bostain.  She and her husband, William E. Derr were married Sep. 2, 1972. Together they celebrated 36 years of marriage before his death Dec. 16, 2008.

Rachel was a 1955 graduate of Milton High School. She worked as a sewer at three local garment plants, beginning at Montgomery Mills, then Patrola Sportswear and retiring from Montgomery Sportswear in 1999.

She was a member of New Covenant Assembly of God, Montgomery. Rachel was also a member of the Bower –Decker Post 251 American Legion Auxiliary and the No Hats Club of Montgomery.

In her younger years, Rachel enjoyed bowling and attending her kids sporting events. She was fond of playing cards with her friends and enjoyed water aerobics and trips to Mr. Sticky’s afterwards. Rachel loved spending time with her family and never missed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan, Sr. and Carla Bennett, of Muncy and Art and Sharon Bennett, of Montgomery; three daughters, Rose Ann Edwards, Deb Edwards and Lily Winder, all of Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Allen Bennett; a brother, Harry Bostain, Jr.; three sons-in-law, Ken Edwards, Dennis Edwards and Timothy Winder; and a great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Koch.

The family is planning a Memorial Service to be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at New Covenant Assembly of God, 1270 Pinchtown Rd., Montgomery, with a time of fellowship at the service.

Burial will be held privately in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
