Raymond T. "Benji" Young

Raymond T. "Benji" Young, 81, of 225 Court Drive, New Columbia, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at the Kramm Healthcare Center, Milton, with his granddaughter, Shelly, by his side.

He was born May 27, 1933 in Watsontown, a son of the late Raymond E. and Stella Mae (Kurtz) Young.  On December 8, 1952 he married the former Donna "Jean" Welliver, who survives.  Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Raymond attended Watsontown High School.  He served his country many years in the United States Naval Reserves.  Raymond retired after 30 years working as a welder and grinder at ACF Industries, Milton.

He is a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Milton and a former member of the Milton Fish and Game Association.  Raymond enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and go camping.  He loved country music and was known for being a good butcher.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Vicki Young and Warren "Red" and Faye Young, all of Milton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and James McCarthy, of Milton, Mildred and Roger Showers and Wendy Lewis and companion, Richard Phillips, all of New Columbia; five brothers, Amos, Thomas, William, Wells and Lewis Young; one sister, Edna Miller; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Steven Gregg Young; one daughter, Karen Louise Irvin; four brothers, Leroy, Elmer, Robert and Warren Young; and two sisters, Emma Laird and Stella Coup.

In Keeping with Raymond's wishes, there will be no services.

The family suggests contributions in Raymond's name be made to the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Diabetes Research Fund.  Please make checks payable to F.O.E. Ladies Auxiliary #1208 (specify Diabetes Research Fund in memo) and mail to C/O Lucinda Diggan, 38 S. Front St., Milton, PA 17847.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
