Richard L. “Dick” Barlett, Sr., 69, of 54 Richard Ave., Hughesville, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Susquehanna Health Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center at the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Born November 1, 1945 in Muncy, he was a son of the late LaRue Z. and Helen (Fought) Barlett. On June 5, 1975 he married the former LizAnn Kramer, who survives. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Dick was a 1963 graduate of Selinsgrove High School, where he was an accomplished athlete, playing baseball, football and wrestling. He was the first Selinsgrove football player to play in the Big 33 football game and received a full scholarship to the University of Colorado.

Dick was a veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves. He worked as a foreman at PPL, Shamokin Dam for 38 years, retiring in 2006.

Dick was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy, the Williamsport Consistory and the Muncy Lodge #299, F & AM.

A love of traveling and a passion for Arabian horses, Dick and his wife showed horses all over the U.S. and Canada and loved managing local horseshows. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching Junior High wrestling at Hughesville.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Richard L. Jr. and Marianne Barlett, of Lewisburg; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Joseph F. Barlett, of Corning, NY and Robert L. and Carolyn Barlett, of Fairfax, VA; two grandsons, Spencer and Simon Barlett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, with his pastor, the Rev. Arlene Beechert, officiating. A Masonic service will be held at 1:45 p.m. Sunday in Heritage Hall, prior to the service.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the University of Colorado Football Excellence Fund, in memory of Richard “Stumpy” Barlett, 369 UCB, Boulder, CO 80309 or to the Hughesville Junior High Wrestling Program, c/o Ron Lorson, 349 Cemetery St., Hughesville, PA 17737 or to the First United Methodist Church, designate Music Fund or Celebration Center, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
