Robert D. “Sonny” Beck, 77, of 200 Walnut St., Lewisburg, died Monday, September 15, 2014 at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.

He was born August 26, 1937 in White Deer Twp., a son of the late Edward and Anna (Snyder) Beck. On January 11, 1964 he married the former Leona Hafer, who survives. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of Mifflinburg High School and served honorably in the United States Army.  He retired after 40+ years at the former Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, where he was also a member of the Steelworkers Union.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cowan and a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.  He enjoyed going to tractor pulls, watching NASCAR, and collecting Hess trucks and Minneapolis Moline memorabilia.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Lindsay Beck, of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Melinda Beck, of Lewisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lucy Beck, of Middleburg; and five grandchildren, Megan, Jacqueline, Hayley, Nolan and Kellen Beck.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Sarah Beck and Isabelle Hassinger.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 106 S. Second St., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. John D. Yost of Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont, officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow in Lewisburg cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, 1420 N. Susquehanna Trail, Selinsgrove, PA 17870 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 2405 Park Drive Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110 (donation form may be downloaded at www.lls.org).
