Robert A. Meehan

Robert A. Meehan, 78, of Heatherbrooke Estates, Muncy, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home.

Born September 28, 1938 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William John Sr. and Catherine Agnes (McCusker) Meehan.  On January 7, 1967 he married the former Catherine J. Saurman, who survives. Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Robert grew up in Philadelphia.  He retired after 30 years working as a security guard at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.

Robert was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and taught catechism.  He was very actively involved with church activities including organizing Novenas and taking part in Divine Mercy and Eucharistic adoration.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Katie and Stephen DeCarlo, of Muncy and Bridget and Steven Marinelli, of Philadelphia; one son, Michael Meehan and his significant other, Angela Grzeszczak, both of Muncy; one brother, Richard Meehan, of Georgia; one sister, Mary Kelly, of New Hampshire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, William Meehan Jr. and Patrick Meehan; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Kelly.

Friends will be received from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Monday, at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 a.m., with his pastor, the Rev. Glenn McCreary, officiating.

A graveside committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Denis Cemetery, Havertown.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Robert’s name be made to either the Knights of Columbus, c/o Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA 17756 or a local Holy Name Society of one’s choice.
