Robert W. Miller, 81, of Montgomery, died Friday, June 28, 2024 at UPMC Haven Place, Lock Haven.

Born June 10, 1943 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ruth (Bartlett) Miller.  On March 28, 1964 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, the former Patricia Faye Ring, who survives.  Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Robert was a 1961 graduate of Montgomery Area High School where he excelled in wrestling and football.  He received an award for best athlete his senior year, and was also the school’s first district champion in wrestling.

Robert worked for ACF Industries and later retired from Grumman’s.

He was a member of the Clinton Baptist Church, Montgomery.

Robert was an elementary wrestling coach and led his team to a Susquehanna Valley championship.  He also coached wrestling at the varsity level leading his team to a top rated spot on WNEP news rankings and best in the Mid Penn League.

Robert loved dancing to music of the 50s, 60s and 70s.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, martial arts, tennis and sports of all kind, especially Penn State wrestling.  He had a great sense of humor and most importantly, loved his family, especially his two special buddies, Aurora and Arlo, his great-grandchildren he spent a lot of time with.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Kris Gray and her husband, Craig, of Mill Hall, Stacey Sones and her fiancé, Jimmy Segraves, of Nippenose Valley, and Pamela Martzall and her husband, Duane, of Cogan Station; a brother-in-law, Jim Ring and his wife, Linda, of Nashville, TN; 12 grandchildren, Robbie, Randy, Ryan, Katie, Krista, Katie, Nick, Kelli, Amber, James, Rylee, and Gage; and 9 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Raymond Jr., and Larry Miller.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life Service from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren St. Montgomery, where light refreshments will be served after.
