Robert L.”Pop” Roles Sr., 76, of Montoursville, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Valley View Nursing Center.
Born June 7, 1940 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Amos and Lilly (Entz) Roles. On July 1, 1961 he married the former Eva Mae Bartholomew, who survives. Together they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Bob graduated from Williamsport High School and attended the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Penn College. In his early years, he worked for his family's business, the former Roles Coal, Williamsport. He then found his real passion, driving truck. He worked for several local trucking companies including George Logue, Bud Neidig, Dave Stryker and his son's business, Roles Trucking.
Bob enjoyed going to Knoebels and watching parades with his grandkids. He loved playing bingo and traveling to casinos with his wife. Bob also enjoyed going on walks and taking Sunday afternoon drives to local car dealers to look at trucks.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. "Bob" Jr. and MarLee Roles, of Montoursville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Charles DeBrody, of Muncy and Betty and Steven Hill of Wysox; one sister, Louise Shuman, of Williamsport; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Dalton, Danae, Amanda, Andrew, Tyler and Rebecca; and 10 great-grandchildren
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Wendy Roles; four brothers, Lynn, Carl, Harold and Archie; one sister, Myrna; and one brother-in-law, Jim Shuman.
Friends will be received from Noon to 1 p.m. Monday, at Christian Church at Cogan Station, 5904 Lycoming Creek Rd., Cogan Station, where a Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. with pastor Cameron Watford, officiating.
Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
