Robert E. Stryker, 67, of 27 S. Washington St., Muncy, died Monday, July 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born November 6, 1949, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Harvey W. and Martha M. (Filler) Stryker.  On February 11, 1967, he married the former Carol Maurer, who survives.  Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Robert attended Montoursville High School.  He worked at various jobs while younger, including Follmer Trucking, Old Fort Nursery and Doc's Carpet.  He later joined the military and served over 21 years in the Army, including two tours of Vietnam.  Following his time in the Army, Robert worked as a truck driver and later retired after 12 years working for Avis Car Rental.

Robert was a true patriot and loved his country.  He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and woodworking.  In more recent years, he enjoyed watching westerns on television.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, James Stryker, of Sunbury, Ohio, Melanie DeRosa and her husband, Daniel, of Hughesville, Jeffrey Stryker and his wife, Sherry, of Dushore, and Madilyn Zimmerman and her husband, Joe, of New Columbia; one brother, James Stryker and his wife, Carolyn, of Benbrook, Texas; one sister, Nancy Stoner and her husband, Joe, of Wilmington, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Sue Benjamin, of Williamsport.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one great-grandchild, Elijah Stryker.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. Arlene P. Beechert, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy, officiating.
