Rodger S. Wolfe

Rodger S. Wolfe, 89, of Lewisburg, died Friday, December 11, 2020 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

He was born January 25, 1931 in Rural Kelly Township Union County, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Stover) Wolfe. He was married to his first wife, Lorraine L. Wolfe for 52 years and second wife, Mary Eberhart Wolfe, for 15 years.  Both preceded him in death.

Rodger was a 1948 graduate of Mifflinburg High School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.

He began employment at Rosedale Dairy then spent 34 years working for Buffalo Valley Telephone Company where he retired in 1993. Subsequently he drove school bus and volunteered as a disaster relief worker for the American Red Cross in Lewisburg until age 75.

Rodger attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, where both he and Mary enjoyed singing in the choir.

He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and for many years was a ‘snowbird’ in the south.  He also loved archery hunting, umpiring baseball, basketball, fast pitch softball and sports in general.

Surviving are twin sons, Larry Wolfe and his wife Tracey Betelyon, of Lewistown and Garry Wolfe and his wife Vicky, of Albuquerque, NM; and one grandson, Aaron R. Wolfe.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by a daughter, Susan J. Brickell; and five siblings, Phyllis Kreisher, William Wolfe, Frances Daugherty, Catherine Shannon and Donald Wolfe.

Services are being planned and will be announced at a later date.

Burial will be in New Berlin Cemetery.

The family encourages contributions in Rodger’s memory be made to the American Red Cross, through www.myremembrance.com , which will provide the family with a personalized keepsake that lists every donor’s name who so graciously donated in his memory.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
