Roger C. Pryor

Roger C. Pryor Sr., 82, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2025.

He was born in Warren, Ohio on April 27, 1942 to the late Henry Pryor and Marcella Rush. As a child, his family moved to Akron, Ohio. He graduated from East High School where he played the saxophone in the band. After high school, Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam era before returning home to attend the University of Akron.

He had a lifetime love of sports, especially his Cleveland hometown teams.

He worked for General Tire before retiring from Dairymens after 25 years of service. Roger was well-loved and admired by all his co-workers. He was a leader and confidant for so many fellow employees. Roger remained a hard worker in retirement. He spent several years as a crossing guard within the Akron Public School District.

Roger was a longtime member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Usher, and Greeter. No one came to church without receiving a hug from Roger.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia "Patty" Brown-Kahler and his first wife, Carol D. Nealy-Pryor.

Roger leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Donna Ray-Pryor; children, Roger (Tanja) Pryor Jr., Stacy Perine, and Delilah "DeeDee" (Charles) Monroe; stepson, Bruce (Roni) Ray; grandchildren, Shana (Mike) Hall, Maya Pryor, Suzie (Charles) Stanley, Kenny (Emily) Ray, Andrew (Jordyn) Ray, Tyler (Jessie) Ray, and Diana (Keith) Emhoff; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Friends will be received Friday, April 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Elimsport United Methodist Church, 16145 PA-44, Allenwood, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m.

Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia.
