Roy C. Swartz, 79, of Muncy, died peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born October 18, 1945 in Pennsdale, he was a son of the late Paul John and Ople B. (DeWald) Swartz. On July 2, 2006 he married the former Margaret Orosz, who survives. Together they celebrated 18 years of marriage.

Roy was a 1964 graduate of Muncy High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War. Roy was a member of the local American Legions. He worked at Young Industries, beginning his career running the grinder and retiring in 2008 as production manager.

Roy loved spending time with family and expanding the minds of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them history, hunting with his sons and grandsons and attending his grandchildren’s school events from breakfasts to wrestling matches. Roy loved woodworking, and along with his wife, the last 15 years, turned his passion into a hobby business, Swartz Unique Local Art. He also passed on his love of woodworking to his grandson, Wyatt.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, David R. (JoAnn) Swartz, of Muncy and Stan J. (Leslie) Swartz, of Hughesville; three sons by marriage, Carlos Ramos (Michele Lucas) and Anthony (Melissa) Ramos, all of Williamsport and David E. (Brenda) Fletcher, of Davis, CA; two brothers, Grant (Helen) Swartz, of Lock Haven and Owen (Sandra) Swartz, of Muncy; four sisters, Buela Swartz, of Muncy, Helen Bigger and Marlene Gibbs, both of Hughesville and Doris Swartz, of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Joyce Swartz, of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren, Ethan Swartz, Wyatt Swartz, Levi Swartz, Ryan Swartz, Katrina Swartz, David J. Swartz, Tre Ramos, Alanna Ramos, Rory Fletcher, James Fletcher, Colt Snyder and Tierney Pauling; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by four brothers, Kenneth George, Arlan, Rodger and Carl Swartz.

Per his wishes a private remembrance ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family.
