Russell F. Yordy, Jr., 79, of 4750 State Rt. 44, Watsontown, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 22, 1936 in Delaware Twp., a son of the late Russell F. Sr. and Myrtle E. (Kulp) Yordy. He and his wife, the former Helen M. Heimbach, were married September 26, 1964. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage before her death November 23, 2015.
Russell was a 1954 graduate of Watsontown High School. He worked various jobs growing up including co-owning and driving truck for the former White Deer Beverage and starting Yordy Auto Sales. In 1972 he started Cabinet Surplus of Dewart, which has remained family owned today.
Russell was of good Christian faith and attended various local churches throughout the years.
He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg club. Russell enjoyed spending time on his farm and was fond of both trains and cars. He also enjoyed reading about his passion of cars. Most importantly, he was a great father and family man.
Surviving are four sons, Victor Yordy and his wife, Kathy, Vincent Yordy and his wife, Margaret, Veris Yordy and his wife, Crystal and Timothy Yordy and his fiancee, Justine A. Peace, all of Dewart; three daughters, Connie Bechtol and Sandra Perko and her husband, Ken, all of Watsontown and Bobbi Mathias and her husband, Harold, of Dewart; one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Barbara Yordy, of Watsontown; one sister, Sharon Grode, of Dewart; ten grandchildren, Victor, Koehler, Adam, Andrew, Zachary, Veris II, Ariel, Aleah, Tayler and Logan; and nine great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Zoe, Emma, David, Griffin, Colby, Kyelan, Emmet and Gianna.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his favorite uncle, Sterling Kulp.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 904 Old Rt. 15, New Columbia, where the funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will follow in Uniontown Cemetery, Allenwood.
The family welcomes flowers, however, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 904 Old Rt. 15, New Columbia, PA 17856.
The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
