Ruth A. Newman

Ruth A. Newman, 76, of Muncy, died Sunday, August 11, 2024, at UPMC, Muncy.

Born September 13, 1947 in Cherry Twp., Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late C. Kenneth and Irene (Fassett) Rood.  On August 2, 1980 she married Sam Newman, who survives.  Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Ruth attended Wyalusing High School.  She most recently worked at Edie’s Ceramics, Muncy.

Ruth took great pride is raising and caring for her family.  She loved taking care of the home, gardening, and cooking large family meals.  Ruth was also very supportive of her husband’s endeavors through the years.

She enjoyed doing word find books in her free time.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Melissa Newman, of Muncy; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Gary Sr. and Marsha Rood, of Hughesville, and Kenneth Rood, of Muncy; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sharon and Joe Goff, of Watsontown, and Faith and Sid Holmes, of Hughesville; and one grandson, Devin Phillips, of Unityville.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Dale Rood Sr.; one brother-in-law, Ronald Sones; and one sister-in-law, Debra Rood.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
