Shirley L. Fisher

March 1, 1930 — July 6, 2019

Shirley L. Fisher, 89, a longtime resident of Allenwood, was received into the loving hands of the Lord on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

She was born March 1, 1930 in Duboistown, a daughter of the late John and Martha (Wheeler) Hamilton.  On March 5, 1959 she married Donald R. Fisher Sr. who preceded her in death February 15, 2005.  Together they celebrated nearly 56 years of marriage.

Shirley worked at various local businesses, including, Montgomery Mills, Sylvania, Freezer Nursing Home and Wundies.  Most of her life she was dedicated to raising and caring for her family, which she gracefully extended onto others, being well known as the “neighborhood mom”, always welcoming children and neighbors into her home.

Shirley enjoyed working on plastic canvas projects, listening to Gospel and Country music and taking trips to Florida with her husband.

Surviving are eight children, Linda Sampsell, of Watsontown, Charles Fisher, of Lock Haven, John Fisher and his wife, Sandra, of Allenwood, Bonnie Bennett and her husband, Bill, of Montgomery, Irene Gray and her husband, Frank, of Muncy, Gail Sattazahn and her husband, Paul, of Lock Haven, Donald Fisher Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Montoursville, and Rick Fisher, of Allenwood; one brother, William Hamilton, of Allenwood; one sister, Lois Clark, of Mill Hall; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, John Hamilton; two sisters, Mary Jane Hanley and Betty Carson; two grandsons, Derek Fisher and Josh King; and one son-in-law, Henry Sampsell.

Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St. Muncy, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday where the Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Hill, officiating.

Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Shirley’s memory be made to either Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o of Home Health and Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital online at www.stjude.org/donate.
