Stearle G. “Butch” Wike, 77, of Williamsport, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at his home.

Born May 29, 1937 in Revloc, he was a son of the late Dell and Blanche (Strayer) Wike. On July 8, 1965 he married the former Carolyn Riedesel, who survives. Together they celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Butch was a 1955 graduate of Ebensburg High School and served his country in the United States Air Force.  He later received certification as a Welder from the former Williamsport Area Community College, now Penn College.  He worked as a welder in his early years and retired as a strander from Bethlehem Steel.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery.  Butch spent a lot of time at his hunting club near Farragut and also made his own fishing rods.  He was good at carpentry and did most of the work on his own home.  He also loved gardening and growing tomatoes every season.  He was a passionate fan of football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Most importantly, Butch enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Barney.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Kevin Harer, of Muncy; one son, Jeff Wike, of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Rachel and Nicole Harer and Travis and Megan Wike; three brothers and one sister.

Friends will be received from 11 to Noon Saturday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy where a memorial service will be held at Noon with pastor Constance Waugh, of Clarkstown United Methodist Church, officiating.
