Theodore C. "Ted" Hill

Theodore C. “Ted” Hill, 74, of 116 N. Second St., Hughesville, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born December 1, 1941 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late James Roy and Annie Elizabeth (Bower) Hill. On July 24, 1971 he married the former H. Ellen Brownlee, who survives. Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Ted was a 1959 graduate of Lock Haven High School, where he was an accomplished wrestler and won State Champion in 1957. Ted was inducted into the Clinton County Chapter of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in April 2003 and inducted into the District Six Hall of Fame in 2011.

He served honorably in the Army National Guard. Ted worked at Muncy Homes for 25 years. After retirement he worked with Yoder Construction until recently.

An avid outdoorsman, Ted enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He loved building large sturdy fires and sitting around them in the company of his family and friends. Ted also loved woodworking, especially making things for his grandchildren, who enjoyed helping him.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin and Lee Hill, of Milton, James and Dorene Hill, of Twenty-nine Palms, CA and Aaron Hill, of Hughesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Darla and John Bitler, of Hughesville; a brother, Talford Hill, of Lock Haven; five sisters, Annie Menicello, of Scranton, Jeanette Hill, of Jersey Shore, Kathryn Williams, of McElhatten, Barbara Stabley, of Delaware, and Betty Lou Barnes, of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren, Chris and Patricia Smith, of Hughesville, David and Kayla Smith, of Muncy, Devon Smith, of Midland, TX, Greg Hill, of Sunbury, Ryan Hill, of White Deer, Elizabeth Hill, of Hughesville, Quinn Stahlnecker, of Twenty-nine Palms, CA and Nolan Hill, of Hughesville; and three great-grandchildren, Lily, Nikolai and Luna Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by nine brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren, Timothy and Coral Smith.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be his son-in-law, John Bitler.

Burial will follow in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
