Thomas John Henninger of Maple Hill Drive, Montgomery, died at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. A Christian from his youth, Tom has looked forward to eternity with his Lord and Savior.
He was born on November 5, 1939, at home on Frack Street in Frackville, PA. He is a son of William T. and Hazel J. (Wilds) Henninger. The third of three children, he is preceded in death by his brother, William and sister, Hazel.
A 1957 graduate of Ashland High School, he also attended Pennsylvania State University, Wake Forest College and the University of Kansas. He was employed at Lycoming College for 36 years; 13 of those years as a math teacher and in the Computer Center for the remaining 23 years. Tom also spent over 30 years as “The Cannon Man” for the Lycoming Warriors Football team.
Tom was an active member of the Muncy Baptist Church for over 40 years. He served as a Sunday School Teacher and as church Treasurer. He also served as Treasurer for the Hemlock Springs Hunting Club, where he was a member for over 20 years. Tom was active in the Gideons and Susquehanna Chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and repairing clocks. Tom often laughed and said, "I'm more than just a pretty face!"
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Esther Hillyard, formerly of Linden; three children, Thomas J. (Starla) Henninger Jr., of Oklahoma City, OK, Rachel (Jeffrey) Powers, of Pennsdale, PA, and Jayson (Evelyn) Parent, of Trout Run, PA; four grandchildren, Jayson Parent, Grant, Evan and Danielle Henninger; and one great-grandchild, Wyatt Parent.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Muncy Baptist Church, 11 W. Penn St. Muncy, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Rice, officiating.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Tom’s memory be made to Muncy Baptist Church, 11 W. Penn St. Muncy, PA 17756.
