Velma T. Dugan

Velma T. Dugan, 86, of Muncy, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Muncy Place, where she had resided for the past two years.

Born January 7, 1938 in Van Buren, Maine, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Joan Morin.

Velma moved to Pennsylvania after meeting and marrying John R. Dugan, who was serving our country at Loring Air Force Base, Aroostook County, Maine.

Velma, an elementary school teacher at the base, continued her career in Pennsylvania with the Montgomery Area School District instructing 6th grade students for 30 plus years.

She was a graduate of the University of Maine at Fort Kent and Lycoming College, Williamsport.

Velma was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy. She was a devoted teacher, loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Marie and William Curtis Dowdy, of Muncy; a son, John T. Dugan, of Muncy; four grandchildren, Michael, Robert and Jennifer Dowdy and Charlene Dugan; and a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Rudy Powers, of CT.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Sally Jellison.

Friends will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, where a memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Father Sean Carpenter, officiating.

Private burial will be held in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
