Velma N. Lloyd

Velma N. Lloyd, 89, of Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

Born May 10, 1928 in Mifflinburg, Velma was one of eight children of Ben and Arvilla Aikey . She was the oldest daughter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Merrill Aikey and one sister, Martha Naugle. Velma is survived by her sisters, Edie Gaines, of York, Betty Woodruff, of Danville and Sue Brady, of Minnesota and her brothers Harold Aikey, of Virginia and Paul Aikey, of Florida.

Velma married Harold I. Lloyd and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage. Harold and Velma had three children, Dick Lloyd and his wife, Susan, of Watsontown, Debbie Shaffer and her husband, Dennis, of Davidsville and Dan Lloyd and his wife, Patti, of Mifflinburg. Together they had 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.

Velma was a home maker most of her life and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and music. She had a strong work ethic which included having a spotless house.

When she was younger she taught herself to play the piano and guitar. She loved singing and especially loved her kids singing around the piano with her. She loved picnics, games and family time.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the United Pentecostal Church of Lewisburg, 2822 Buffalo Rd. Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 2, with the Rev. Jerry Tipton and the Rev. Jason Gann, officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Velma has requested you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PI., Memphis, TN 38105.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg.
