Victoria Joan Pirnie Sams

Victoria Joan Pirnie Sams, 71, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 25, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of the late Victor R. Pirnie and Margaret H. (Goodrich) Matthews. On Jan. 25, 1985 she married Randy Sams, who survives. Together they celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Victoria was a graduate of Lake Highlands High School, Dallas, TX and received a bachelor’s degree in Arts from the Texas Christian University, Fort Worth. She worked for the Lewisburg School District, taking pictures of events and writing articles for the local newspaper.

Victoria was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milton, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years. Victoria was a philanthropist; with an immense love of children, all animals, especially her many dogs and those in need. She enjoyed spending time gardening and growing indoor plants at every window. Victoria loved reading and daily Sudoku puzzles. Most of all, she was an amazing and loving mother to her two daughters.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lacy and Jacob Hite, of Bluff City, TN and Stephanie Sams and Chris Varell, of Darlington, MD; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Glyn Pearson, of TX and Diane Sorenson, of KS; one brother, David Pirnie, of TX; step mother, Shirley Pirnie, of KS; and two nieces, Catherine and Amanda.

Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor James Dries, officiating.
