Virginia "Toot" Emery

Virginia "Toot" Emery, 77, of Watsontown, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Milton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born September 18, 1937 in Watsontown, a daughter of the late Emmanuel and Pauline (Raup) Hoffman.  On July 21,1958 she married the love of her life, Joseph P. Emery Jr., who survives.  Together they celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Toot was a 1956 graduate of Watsontown High School.  She worked various jobs at the former Milton Shoe Company, Montgomery Mills, Philco-Ford and JPM Industries.  She also worked for Con Agra and Weis Markets.  Toot was known best for her independent cleaning services she provided for local Watsontown businesses.

She was of the Methodist faith.

Toot's hobbies included painting, crafts, dancing and collecting dog figurines and spoons. She had a love of life and enjoyed the wildlife, especially feeding the birds and squirrels.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor and Mark Stepp, of Winfield, Diane and John Fowler, of Milton and Lisa and Brett Corbin, of Muncy; one son Mickey Emery, of Watsontown; one brother and sister-in-law, Myron and Betty Hoffman, of Minnesota; one sister, Eleanor Allison, of Turbotville; seven grandchildren, Michelle Miller, Jan Stepp, Christina Stepp, Casey Herbster, Cody Fowler, Ethan Corbin and Landon Corbin; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter in infancy, Lori Ann Emery; three brothers Ned, Gene and John Hoffman; two sisters, Nancy Hoffman and Ruby Stover; and one brother-in-law, Paul Allison.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown where a Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael Reece of Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, Watsontown, officiating.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in Toot’s memory be made to Hospice of Evangelical, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
