Wilhelmina J. Sampsell, 86, of Sulphur Spring Road, Montgomery, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2015 at her home.
She was born March 11, 1929 in South Williamsport, a daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Bird) Hakes. On May 19, 1956, she married Edwin B. Sampsell, who survives. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Wilhelmina worked for 23 years as a Bus Driver for the Montgomery School District.
She was devoted to her family and loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Red Sampsell, Ron and Cathie Cross, Edwin III and Jeannie Sampsell and Harry and Jackie Sampsell, all of Montgomery; one daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Scott Beck, of Montgomery; one brother, Harry Hakes, of Montgomery; one sister and brother-in-law, Liz and Ted Bennett, of Montgomery; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, Marshall Cross; three brothers, Lehman, Clark and James Hakes; and one sister, Kate Stradley.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown where a Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Hill of Elimsport United Methodist Church, officiating
Burial will follow in Elimsport Cemetery.
