William L. "Bill" Baysore

William L. “Bill” Baysore, 90, of Muncy, died Friday, May 31, 2024 at Muncy Place.

Born March 11, 1934 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Robert C. and Mildred E. (Snyder) Baysore, whom died when he was a young boy. Bill was raised by his grandmother, Lulu Mae (Hill) Baysore Searfoss, of Muncy. On August 27, 1954, he married the former Royetta E. Hess, who preceded him in death Jan. 27, 2016. Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Bill was a 1952 graduate of Muncy High School. He previously worked at the former Modecraft Co., Muncy, until they closed. Bill then worked at Muncy Homes and GTE Sylvania. He retired in 1996 from the former Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, where Bill was employed as a guard through Burns International Security Services.

He was of Lutheran faith. Bill was a member of the Muncy Historical Society, where he helped with the ground maintenance in his younger years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 1, Williamsport and the Williamsport Loyal Order of Moose.

Bill was very handy at fixing things and was always helping people out. While working at Modecraft, he served as a past recording secretary for United Furniture Workers Union Local 516, and was fond of organizing the their annual Christmas parties for the kids at the Ritz, Muncy and Capital Theater, Williamsport, with Santa’s help.

Bill loved researching family ancestry and the history of the area which he witnessed a lot of. He enjoyed visiting family and friends, eating out at restaurants and not a day went by that he didn’t read the newspaper.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Joseph Werle, of O’Fallon, IL, Debra and Marc Strickland, of Ledbetter, TX, and Kathy and Larry Pentz, of Muncy; a son, Stephen Baysore; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by daughter and son-in-law, Barbie Jo Bubb in April 2023 and John Bubb; and five siblings and their spouses, Kenneth Wilson Baysore, Betty Mae (Donald) Rockey, Robert Clayton (Betty) Baysore, Ruth Arlene (Arthur) Rall and Dale Larue (Margaret) Baysore.

A graveside service will be held in the Muncy Cemetery and announced at a later date.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
