William S. "Bill" Kiessling

June 28, 1947 — January 12, 2020

William S. “Bill” Kiessling, 72, of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, January 12th, 2020 from a brief illness with loved ones by his side.

Born June 28th, 1947 in Williamsport, he was the son of John “Jack” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Dawson) Kiessling. He is survived by his partner of 21 years, Janet Alling.

Bill was blessed to find partnership and love with Janet whom he adored and shared many common interests and passions. Together, they were able to travel the world seeing destinations like India, Canada, the British Isles, Italy, Austria and many parts of the United States.

Together, Bill and Janet loved spending time together enjoying their shared love of cooking, the outdoors, reading, and a host of other activities, but they especially found peace in Nova Scotia, Canada where they would spend their summers on their farm. Bill happily toiled to regenerate an old orchard and loved boating in the waters of the Northumberland Strait.

Bill was a graduate of Loyalsock High School and was a proud alumnus of the Pennsylvania State University.

Throughout his early life, Bill had a passion for sports and coaching. He coached many youth sports including church basketball and Little League. He was a devoted father and received great joy watching his children and grandchildren’s games, recitals or any other event and always preached “attitude is everything”.

Bill was an avid Penn State Football fan and developed a love for the English Football Tottenham Hotspurs as well. Some of his passions included golf, the outdoors, cooking, baking, gardening, travel and spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom referred to Bill affectionately as “O.P.”

Bill was in the Army National Guard and enjoyed a long career at Carey McFall, Carol Cable and Parker Hannifin. As a “second act” in retirement, Bill obtained a realtors license and enjoyed working for Hodrick Realty in Williamsport.

Surviving in addition to Janet are his three children, Arthur Kiessling and his wife, Stacey of Texas, Courtney Boring and her husband, Tim, of Texas and Allen Kiessling and his wife, Ashley of Williamsport; three sisters, Eleanor “Norie” Gleckner, of Williamsport, Barbara Keener and her husband, Donald, of Williamsport and Linda Stewart and her husband James, of Florida; and five grandchildren, Greer, Elizabeth “Ellie”, Ava, Aiden and Adler “Addy” Kiessling.

He is also survived by Janet’s two sons, Philip Alling and his wife, Heather and their children Dylan, Savanna, Jeremy of London, England and Bruce Alling and his wife, Andrea and their children Brittany and Sydney of Phoenixville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Kiessling and two brothers, Russell “Bo” and John “Jack” Kiessling and one sister, Mary Troisi.
