William Barton Melville Sr., 86, formerly of Oreland, PA died peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He had lived at the Nottingham Village Retirement Center, Northumberland, for the past two years.
He was born May 22, 1928 in Baltimore, MD the son of the late Thomas Wood Melville and Marian Maytham Melville.
“ Bart ” was a graduate of the McDonogh School, and the Philadelphia Textile Institute. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Throughout his career, he was employed in the textile industry where he held corporate positions. He was an avid golfer. Bart was of the Christian faith.
He is survived by one son, William B. Melville Jr. and his wife, Diane Grace Melville, of Schwenksville, PA; one daughter, Elizabeth Melville Magill and her husband, John T. Magill III MD, of Lewisburg, PA; five grandchildren, one grandson-in-law and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Melville Cox, of Timonium, MD as well as, two nieces and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Wood Melville, Jr.
A simple graveside service will be held at Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD on April 2, 2015 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Bart ’ s name be made to the American Lung Association of PA, 3001 Old Gettysburg Rd., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
